The stone that the builders rejected
has become the cornerstone.
Psalm 118:22

Psalm 118:22 teaches us that though the original setting of this passage may not be entirely clear, its prophetic meaning is. The psalmist points us to Christ, the coming Messiah. The rejected stone is Jesus Christ. Even though He performed many wonderful and powerful miracles, He was still despised and rejected. His own people arrested Him, accused Him, beat Him, and handed Him over to the Romans to be crucified. Yet through His death on the cross, the price for our sins was fully paid, and God’s justice was satisfied. After He was laid in the tomb, the grave could not hold the Son of God. On the third day, Jesus rose in victory. This is the truth on which we build our lives: Jesus Christ, the rejected stone, is our cornerstone and firm foundation.

New Harmony Baptist Church Student Ministry is dedicated to instilling the Infallible Word of God in our students’ lives. We hope His Word continues to reveal the deception and wickedness present in the world so that our students recognize its true nature—lost and in need of salvation. Our desire is for them to always use God’s Word as their daily guide. We pray that God’s Word will take root and grow deeply within them, leading each to commit their life to Christ and let the light that opened their eyes shine brightly through them, becoming the light of the world as we are called to be (Matthew 5:14-16).

At New Harmony, our student ministry not only focuses on sharing God’s Word but also on building a family—a community of brothers and sisters in Christ, sons and daughters of our heavenly Father. Like any family, we aren’t perfect and sometimes make mistakes, but we strive to walk in humility and love one another as Christ loves us.

The Gospel declares that God loves humanity and offers salvation through Jesus Christ. Jesus, God’s Son, lived a perfect life, died on the cross for our sins, and rose from the dead. By believing in Him and accepting His sacrifice, we receive forgiveness, restoration with God, and eternal life. The Gospel invites us to turn from sin, trust in Christ, and follow Him, allowing His light to shine through us.
